retainers
Getting your braces off is exciting and you love your new smile … but the work doesn’t stop there. Once Dr. McDaniel and the team at Ortho 99 Plus 1 finish your orthodontic treatment, you will be given a set of retainers. The only way to ensure your teeth don’t shift and to maintain your new beautiful smile is to wear retainers indefinitely.
You may be wondering, what kind of retainer will I get? Dr. McDaniel believes that the best kind of retainer is one you will actually wear. We offer two types of retainers, a clear Invisalign-type of retainer called an Essix Retainer and the traditional acrylic and metal retainer called a Hawley Retainer. Most patients prefer the clear Essix retainer and this works great for almost everyone. If you don’t have a preference, Dr. McDaniel and the team will help you decide which retainer is right for you.
If you’ve lost or broken your retainer, it is important that you call us immediately! Clinical experience and well documented research tells us that teeth will shift after orthodontic treatment. Replacing your missing or broken retainer as soon as possible is a must. Failure to do so may result in the need for braces again.
